N. Pacific Ocean s. through wc. Pacific Ocean, Tasman Sea and Indian Ocean;
In the Indian Ocean on St. Paul Is., is. off s. Western Australia (Cape Leevwin to Recherche Arch.). Lord Howe Is. (forested areas around settlement, e. side of Ned's Beach s. to Transit Hill and Old Settlement Bay) and is. off North Island, New Zealand including Hen and Chicken, Mercury, Alderman, Karewa, Coppermine, Middle, Korapuki and Titi Is. in Hauraki Gulf and Bay of Plenty s. to the Cook Strait and off New Plymouth.
Disperses into the Arabian Sea, Tasman Sea and n. passed the Marshall and Hawaiian Is., Japan, Korea, Kuril Is., Kamchatka Peninsula, the Aleutians, s. Alaska, Canada s. to sw. United States, Mexico (Baja), off Australia (Western Australia, South Australia (Kangaroo Is.), Victoria, New South Wales, se. Queensland and Tasmania), New Guinea w. to Sri Lanka, w. India, the Maldives, Pakistan, Iran, s. Arabian Peninsula, Oman (Dhofar), Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique to South Africa, Madagascar, Seychelles and Mascarene Is.
