Fragmented distribution;
(1) W. Mediterranean region of Europe from the s. Spain and North Africa in n. Mauritania and Morocco.
Winters s. of the Sahara.
(2) E. Mediterranean in se. Europe (Balkans), Turkey, s. to n. Syria, n. and c. Egypt (Nile River valley) s. to n. Sahara, and n. Arabia.
Winters in e. Africa.
(3) S. Saudia Arabia and Iran through Transcaucasus, n. to ec. Caspian Sea, Aral Sea and Lake Balkhash, and the Middle East to n. Pakistan s. to Baluchistan, and nw. India.
