Winters in s. Europe in Mediterranean region, c. Asia, and n. China.
(2) Ne. Canada (n. Labrador, and Baffin Is.), and s. Greenland.
Winters in c. and ne. United States and nw. Europe.
(3) Iceland.
(4) W. Europe in the British Isles, Alps of Switzerland and Austria, mountains of Czechoslovakia, and wc. Russia.
Introduced to New Zealand and Lord Howe Is.
