Range

W. Africa; E. to s. Africa; Madagascar;
Three populations;
(1) Two populations: w. Africa in a narrow band from Senegambia, Guinea-Bissau, s. Mauritania, n. Guinea, s. and c. Mali, Burkina Faso, ex. n. Ghana, ex. n. Togo, n. Benin, s. Niger, n. Nigeria and n. Cameroon to Lake Chad. In e. and s. Africa from n. Ethiopia, se. Sudan, sw. Somalia, Kenya (April to July and October to November, common in Arusha NP and along coast of Lake Victoria and on Lake Paradise, Mt. Marsabit), Pemba Is. (June to August), Mafia Is., Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, e. and s. Zaire (Kivu District) to s. Congo, Angola, c. Namibia, Zambia, Tanzania (April to August), Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, n. and e. Botswana to w. South Africa (Natal from November to February).
(2) Madagascar.
