Range

Andes of c. to s. South America; Falkland Is.; South Georgia;
Three populations;
(1) E. Andes of ec. Colombia (upper Cauca Valley near Cali n. to Cundinamarca at La Herrera, Tibabuyes and Bogota Savanna, Boyaca on Laguna de Tota and Laguna de Fuquene).
(2) Sw. Colombia (Laguna La Cocha, Lago de Cumbal, Narino, Sibundoy Valley, Putumayo) and Ecuador s. through coastal Peru (Mollendo), c. and s. Bolivia (Chaco), Paraguay, se. Brazil n. to Sao Paulo, Uruguay, Chile and Argentina to Tierra del Fuego. Falkland Is. (Lafonia).
Winters n. to s. Brazil.
(3) South Georgia Is.
