Two populations;
Ne. to se. Sudan, Ethiopia, nw. and sw. Somalia, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, ne. to sw. Zaire to s. and c. Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia (Kalahari) and Mozambique s. locally to s. South Africa (Karoo) and Orange Free State. Madagascar.
Wanders n. to n. Angola (mostly coastal) and sc. Zaire.
