Isolated population in sc. and se. Alaska. Sw. Canada from c. and ex. ne. British Columbia e. in ex. sc. Mackenzie, Alberta, c. Saskatchewan and s. Manitoba s. in the w. United States to c. California, n. Nevada, n. Utah (Great Salt Lake), Colorado s. to nw. New Mexico and ec. Arizona and e. to Nebraska, nw. Iowa and w. Minnesota. Isolated population in the Great Lakes.
Winters in nw. to s. United States from sw. Oregon, California, sw. Wyoming to n. Texas, c. Missouri, s. Illinois in the Mississippi River Valley, Ohio River Valley and s. Great Lakes (Lake St. Clair and w. Lake Erie) then e. in c. Georgia and n. Florida and up the Atlantic coast to Massachusetts and s. in Mexico to n. Baja and Michoacan, Mexico and Tamaulipas to the n. Yucatan and Guatemala and the West Indies (Bahamas and Greater Antilles in Cuba).
