S. South America;
C. and s. Chile s. from Atacama to Llanquihue and c. and s. Argentina s. from San Juan and La Rioja to Santa Cruz and Tierra del Fuego (rarely).
Winters n. to Paraguay, Uruguay and se. Brazil (Rio Grande do Sul) n. to 25°S.
