Range

S. South America; Falkland Is.;
Two populations;
(1) S. Chile (Guaitecas and Chonos Archipelagos) n. to Cautin and Chiloe Is. (42°S.) and s. Argentina from 50°S. s. to s. Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego including s. and e. Isla Grande, Cape Horn and Staten Is.
Winters n. in s. Argentina to Santa Cruz and Chubut (rarely).
(2) Falkland Is. (Kidney Is.).
Winters in bays and creeks around Stanley.
