Africa s. of the Sahara; Indonesia; E. New Guinea;
Two widely separated main populations;
(1) Senegambia, Mali, se. Guinea, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, s. Niger, Cameroon, Gabon, Congo, Angola, s. Chad, Central African Republic, Sudan, w. and c. Ethiopia, Somalia, n. and ne. Zaire, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya (Lake Baringo, Lake Kakamega and Lake Taveta), Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, n. Namibia, n. and e. Botswana and ne. South Africa (Transvaal and n. Natal). Madagascar.
(2) Nc. peninsular Malaysia (Belum area), Indonesia, Sumatra, Bangka Is., Borneo, nc. Sulawesi.
(3) Se. New Guinea.
