S. New Guinea and Australia;
Interior of Australia in w. Western Australia, Northern Territory, c. South Australia and sc. Queensland (Lake Bindegolly and Townsville Common Environmental Park) s. in New South Wales (Avalon Swamp and Leeton Swamp), Australian Capital Territory (Kelley's Swamp) and Victoria (Port Phillip Bay).
Moves to coastal areas during dry season.
Ranges to Tasmania and ex. s. New Guinea.
