Fragmented population in the w. part of its range;
N. Europe from Scandinavia e. through n. Russia and n. Siberia to the Chukotski Peninsula and s. in c. Siberia to s. edge of the tiaga.
Winters in Israel (Hula Valley) and s. to Africa, China and Taiwan.
