Range
Ec. Europe and wc. Asia.
Fragmented distribution in small populations in scattered locations;
Wc. Hungary (Hortobagy National Park) to s. Russia (Crimea, Black Sea), Caspian Sea and Aral Sea e. to Lake Balkhash, Kirghiz steppes. se. Altai, Pamir Mountains and locally to nw. Mongolia and possibly n. China (Gansu, Quinghai) and Tibet.
Winters in e. Mediterranean (Israel, Hula Valley), Red Sea, sc. Ethiopia, Persian Gulf, Caspian Sea and along the coast of the n. Indian Ocea e. to Burma.
