Range
Sw. Pacific Ocean off sw. New Zealand;
Breeds in s. New Zealand, e. and se. South Island on the Banks Peninsula and then from Cape Wanbrow n. of Oamaru s. to Bluff including the Otago Peninsula, n. Stewart Is. and Codfish Is. and also on Campbell and the Auckland Is.
Disperses n. to the Cook Strait.
Old unconfirmed reports from Chatham Is. (1899), Kerguelen Is. (1885), Snares Is. (1920) and Macquarie Is. (1920).
